Sew Better Shirts - The Foundations of Shirt Making 25/7 & 26/7
Saturday & Sunday 10-5pm
A good shirt is a fabulous addition to any wardrobe. If you have ever wanted to try to sew your own or just want to improve on your past attempts, join me for a weekend to learn how to sew better shirts.
Over the course of two days I will take you through the key elements of shirt making, including plackets, collars and cuffs and using the burrito method for a yoke. We will also look at how to improve your finishing on pockets, topstitching and buttonholes.
We will be sewing the Unisex Shirt from Modern Sewing Co. This classic piece is a really excellent place to begin your shirt making journey.
To allow for sewing time in class you will need to cut your pattern pieces and fabric before the weekend. The pattern will be posted to you two weeks prior to class and the PDF sent to you after the workshop.
This is an intermediate workshop aimed at those looking to really level up their garment making by delving into shirtmaking. You should be comfortable using a pattern, using an overlocker for seams and a range of garment sewing techniques such as setting in a sleeve and buttonholes. If you are unsure if this class is right for you please do not hesitate to get in touch at rachel@hackleydesignstudio.com.
