Where are the workshops held?

The workshops and classes are all held in my bright Aberdeen studio in Torry. You can find full details as well as travel and parking info on my page HOW TO FIND ME.

Do I need to bring my own machine or tools?

I do have studio machines that can be borrowed for class, or you can use your own machine if you prefer. All other tools required for a class are provided. Full details of exactly what is provided or that you need to bring can be found in the individual workshop listings. The classes do vary so it is always best to check on the specific workshop you are looking to book.

How big are the classes?

For classes that involve machine sewing, the number is max 6. Sometimes for hand sewing or theory based classes the numbers will be slightly more. Please feel free to get in touch if you want to check on details for a specific class.

What are the classes like?

Whenever I am delivering a workshop I always want to make sure it is relaxed, welcoming and that you not only learn something, but you have a good time.

How accessible is the studio?

My studio is on the first floor, up two small sets of stairs. The building does not have a lift. I am always on hand and happy to give you a hand to carry anything upstairs, but if you are unsure if the studio will work for any accessibility needs you have please do not hesitate to get in contact directly - rachel@hackleydesignstudio.com

Will Trevor the dog be at the classes?

My little border terrier Trevor sometimes comes with me to project classes, but she will not be making an appearance at any other more structured classes. After a friendly hello, she seems quite happy to find a spot under a table in her bed and just keep an eye on everyone’s sewing.

What happens if I need to cancel a class?

The workshops are non refundable, but I understand life happens. If you can let me know as soon as you know you will not manage to attend a workshop I can let you know the options. Do you sell fabric, patterns and haberdashery?

Yes I do! I have a selection of all of the above available at the studio. I will have the range available to browse online soon, but for now you can shop with me at studio events or when you are attending classes. You receive 10% off anything purchased when you attend a class. If you would ever like to come to the studio to see what is on offer please get in touch and if I can accomodate a visit I absolutely will.
