Quilted Jacket Weekend 17/10 & 18/10
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October
10-5pm both days
Have you always wanted to sew a quilted garment but found yourself daunted by the layers, the quilting, not to mention the bias binding!? This workshop is ideal for you if you are already comfortable on your sewing machine and want to try out the world of quilted clothing.
Join me for the whole weekend where I will take you through everything you need to know to sew your very own quilted jacket or waistcoat. The pattern we are using has the option to have sleeves, or leave these off to create a waistcoat.
Please note that as creating our quilted fabric is a key part of the class pre-quilted fabric is not suitable for the workshop.
To allow for sewing time in class you will need to cut your pattern pieces and fabric before the weekend. Wadding shall be cut in class. The pattern will be posted to you two weeks (or earlier by prior arrangement) before the workshop, and the PDF sent to you after class.
What will we cover?
Making up the quilt sandwich
Different machine quilting methods - linear and freestyle
Marking, basting and troubleshooting so get a great finish when quilting your pieces.
Assembling your quilted garment, sewing seams and handling layers.
Adding pockets to your garment
Binding - how to prepare binding, including cutting your own, handling bias and sewing it to your garment for a good finish.
Different methods of finishing your garment to create a reversible piece.
