Introduction to Punch Needle 7/2

£80.00

Saturday 7th February 10-1.30pm

Punch needle embroidery is a fibre art technique that uses a hollow needle tool to punch yarn hoops through a woven cloth. You work from one side of the piece, rythmically punching the tool into the work (which can be VERY theraputic). The technique allows you to essentially draw and colour in designs and shapes on the fabric with the yarn making it incredibly versatile. It can be used to create wall hangings, cushion covers, coasters and placemats, rugs and even bags.

Join me for the afternoon to learn all about this lovely technique. I will take you through the principles of punch needle, including the tools and materials to use. You will then be able to choose from a selection of designs to work with and select the colours you wish to use. I will then guide you through the process of completing your design.

You will be provided with a wooden display hoop to take your work home in which is perfect to display your piece. I will take you through various examples of different ways you can create homewares and use your punch needle creations. If you find yourself hooked, I will have supplies and tools available to buy if you want to carry on your new obsession at home.

  • Fundamentals of punch needle
