We have all those items in our wardrobe that just don’t bring us joy. They are a little worn, too plain, not really jumping out and making you feel special.Join me for a morning learning how hand embroidery can be used to embellish your underwhelming garments and breathe new life into your wardrobe.

You do not need any previous experience of hand sewing or embroidery as I will take you through a range of foundational stitches and techniques. After creating a sampler of different stitches you can use for reference we will move onto the best ways to transfer a design to a garment. You will have the chance to use soluble adhesive stabiliser as an option, as well as free hand drawing and tracing around templates.

The rest of the session will be spent letting your creativity run wild and having fun creating a unique piece.

You will receive an embroidery hoop, a selection of designs printed on stabiliser to use, as well as some blank stabiliser to use for your own designs.

What will we cover?

  • Selection of embroidery stitches including split stich, satin stitch, french knots, blanket stitch.

  • The best options for clothing embelishment designs.

  • How to transfer designs to clothing.

  • Caring for your embroidered garments.

What is included?

  • Embroidery hoop and fabric for sampler.

  • Selection of embroidery threads for your designs.

  • Use of all needles and required tools.

  • Transfer stabiliser - printed with designs for use and some blank for your own designs.

What do you need to bring?

  • A garment to bring back to life!

Woven fabrics, nothing too lightweight - denim shirts, linen, cotton work really well. Very delicate or very stretchy fabrics will not be suitable.

  • This should be clean and in a good state of repair. Remember, this isn’t a repair class so extensive damange will not be suitable to fix, but embroidery can be used to cover small marks and wear and tear. If you are unsure if a garment is suitable for class please get in touch rachel@hackleydesignstudio.com.

Please note as with all my classes this is suitable for those age 16+.

PLEASE NOTE THIS CLASS REQUIRES A MINIMUM NUMBER OF ATTENDEES TO RUN.

Cancellation

Workshop bookings are non refundable. If you are unable to attend please let me know as soon as you can. If I am able to resell your place I can offer you a refund minus an admin fee. Full details can be found in my BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY HERE.
