Date:

Have you found yourself staring longingly at a gorgeous sewing pattern, marvelled at the finished garment, been fairly certain the ‘beginner’ level on the instructions means you, only to not have a blinking clue where you would begin if the pattern itself landed in your lap?And PDF patterns? What the……

Yes? Well this class is for you. Even if you have tackled a few patterns before but always felt like you were perhaps just missing something, or couldn’t for the life of you work out why the instructions were guiding you a certain way, this class will help you build all the confidence you need to tackle these mystifying beasts on your own.

In the class we shall cover the main features of a pattern, starting from the very basic beginnings – paper or PDF?By referencing examples we shall look at common terminology, how to tackle sizing, cutting patterns and how to translate them into a gorgeous garment you can be proud of.

Feel free to bring any patterns/s you have with you for us to look at.I shall have several different patterns in class for us to look at.

Please note this is a theory based class. We shall not be sewing, but I shall be demonstrating certain techniques and skills.

You shall come away with a solid understanding of pattern basics, more confidence to select the designs and designers that work for you, a reference sheet with terminology, techniques, useful resouces and more.

This class is a perfect introduction to patterns and should give you the confidence to bring a new pattern to tackle along to a project session if you would like to tackle you project with some extra support. Details of project sessions can be found here.
