Mindful Mini Quilts 1/11

£70.00

Slow down and join me for a day of creative hand stitching.  Learn the principles of patchwork and hand quilting whilst immersing yourself in the joy of creating something completely by hand.

We shall be focussing on utilising scraps and leftovers from other projects for patchwork and quilting as a great way to make the most of your fabric stash and minimise waste.

Over the session you shall make a small quilt piece. This is great as a small wall hanging, mug mat, or even sewn up to create a small bag.

We will begin the day with an introduction to patchwork and applique, covering hand sewn construction and decorative stitches.  From there, you shall have a couple of hours to creatively play and create your patchwork piece.  As well as examples of work for inspiration you will be able to browse my selection of reference books.  Once you have completed your patchwork quilt top I shall guide you through creating the ‘quilt sandwich’ , binding your edges and finishing your design.

There will be ample fabric provided in class to make your quilt, but if you have any fabric scraps or remnants or just something sitting unused at home I highly encourage you to bring it along.  If you are in doubt if something you have will be suitable, bring it along anyway and we can see how we can incorporate it.

The session runs from 12noon to 4.30pm. We will have ample chance for tea breaks through the day, but I would advise you have lunch before the session.
